On April 29th, the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart celebrated the women of our Congregation who have reached milestone years in their Religious Vocation. View Jubilee Photos here. There was also a smaller celebration celebrated in Buffalo in May for Sisters Nancy Kaczmarek, Sheila Stone, and Barbara Schiavoni. Pictures are available here.
Sister Donna Lord delivered a stirring reflection during the Philadelphia area Liturgy. Click here to read it.
Sister Sheila Stone’s reflection for the celebration in Buffalo is available here.
This year we celebrate 14 women marking a combined total of 815 years of loving service to the people of God in a variety of ministries.
We hope you will enjoy reading their stories of how life as a Grey Nun of the Sacred Heart allowed them to bring God’s compassion and mercy to many people. Each of these women ministers, prays and lives in the spirit of our Foundress, St. Marguerite d’Youville, who reached out her hands to the poor and needy without counting the cost.

Sister St. Catherine Curley I found fulfillment in knowing that I was doing the work of St. Marguerite d’Youville.
Sister Kathleen Hannan Through Providence, many Grey Nuns have provided for me: extensive education, guidance in spirituality and nurturing my personal well-being and growth.
Sister Jane O’Connor Those 70 years have been filled with many faces: innocent little second graders, struggling teens, searching homeless and many others with whom I share memories.
Sister Virginia Taylor My jubilee of 70 years has been an upward and downward trial of experiences. It has been a marvelous, prayerful journey.
Sister Carol Bardol My years of ministry have been varied and stretching. I have grown through them and at this Jubilee time, celebrate my 60 Years as a Grey Nun, as great blessings.
Sister Barbara Connolly Through my 60 years as a Grey Nun, I have had a variety of experiences in my ministries that have helped me in community life and prayer life.
Sister Mary McMahon God who knew what was best for me, called me to be a Grey Nun of the Sacred Heart.
Sister Sheila Stone During these 60 years, our congregation has supported me in my evolution and calls. As a life-long learner, I have had many opportunities to open myself to the new.
Sister Anne Marie Striegl During these 60 years, my life has been blessed by God’s everlasting and abiding love, friendship and protection for which I am grateful.
Sister Nancy Kaczmarek I look forward to this celebration of 50 years to share memories and celebrate with the other Jubilarians, all the Grey Nuns, and those who have supported us through the years.
Sister Julia Christine Lanigan My life as a Grey Nun of the Sacred Heart has been a graced experience of learning to live and walk in the path of love day by day.
Sister Mary Elizabeth Looby This life has been a good and rewarding choice for me. These 50 years have flown by!
Sister Kathleen Woody During these 50 years I have certainly grown in age, but hopefully, in wisdom and grace as well. I know I am a better person for my experiences as a Grey Nun.
Sister Barbara Schiavoni It is my greatest blessing to share in the mission of the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart, bringing the Reign of God to people of our time in the spirit of St. Marguerite d’Youville.
