Four Grey Nuns of Montreal, led by Mother Elizabeth Bruyere, founded this community in 1845. They extended service to the poor of Bytown (Ottawa), Ontario, Canada. Today the SCO's serve in Canada, USA, Brazil, Japan, Central Africa, South Africa, and Haiti.
