Discernment – Listening to your Heart

When we Discern or seek an answer to the question, “Do I have a Religious Vocation within the Catholic faith?” it can be difficult to distinguish between my will and God’s will.

When we make a decision between something good, and something not so good, the decision is easy. But, when we are deciding between two good things, the process is more challenging.

Here we offer some simple tips that we call Ways to improve your Heart-hearing:

  1. Commit to a daily period of quiet prayer
  2. Regularly receive the Sacraments of the Church
  3. Review your day (Where did I find God’s goodness and peace? Where did I see my own sinfulness and weakness?)
  4. Keep a Journal
  5. Pay attention to your relationships and activities
  6. Think about the ways you serve others in your daily life
  7. Talk with a Catholic Sister, Brother or Priest and observe how they live their life.
