The Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart, began in Buffalo, New York, on August 24, 1921 in what now houses some of the administratives offices of d'Youville College. | ||

d'Youville College, begun by the Grey Nuns of the Cross (now known as the Sisters of Charity of Ottawa) and chartered by New York State in 1908 as an all girls college, became the original Motherhouse while still serving as the college under the administration of the new Grey Nun congregation, the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart.
Today d'Youville College is an independent, urban, coeducational institution located at 320 Porter Avenue, Buffalo, NY. | ||

At that same time (back in 1921) attached to the college on what is referred to today as the 'Prospect Avenue Wing' was Holy Angels Academy, a private girls high shool.
Holy Angels Academy is one of our sponsored works and is now located at Shoshone and Hertel Avenues in Buffalo, NY |

Another sponsored work begun jointly with our Sister Grey Nuns, (Canadian Congregations of Grey Nuns), is Marguerite's Place. Marguerite's Place is located in Nashua, New Hampshire, and serves the needs of women and children who have suffered various abuse and hardship. Women and Children are housed, schooled, respected and cared for as they seek to gain independence and self sufficiency. Truly this is a great example of the Charism of our Foundress, St. Marguerite d'Youville. |
Marguerite's Place, Inc. is a non-profit organization that offers safe & affordable transitional housing, on-site Day Care, and a network of health, social, educational, and vocational services to homeless women and their children in crisis. |
