Pennsylvanians- Protect our Water Resource

Written on: March 20, 2014

waterMarch 22 is World Water Day. The Catholic Coalition for Justice and Peace (Pennsylvania) recently had an evening of information, reflection, prayer and action focusing on water. Their action was advocating for a national ban on fracking because of its toxic effects on water and the amount of water needed in the extraction process. Contrary to what some may believe, water is a non-renewable resource. That means it is possible to run out!

We urge everyone, especially those from Pennsylvania, to send a postcard to your Senators: (In PA: Robert P. Casey, Jr. -393 Russell Senate Office Building Washington DC 20510 and Patrick J. Toomey -248 Russell Senate Office Building Washington DC 20510) as well as the President at: President Barack Obama, The White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20500  with the following message:

Dear President Obama /or Senator Casey (PA)/ or Senator Toomey (PA),

Please support a national ban on fracking. I urge you to protect our drinking water by implementing a federal ban on hydraulic fracking or natural gas fracking.

The toxic results of using hydraulic fracking to extract natural gas have led to contamination of drinking water, cattle being quarantined, and dangerous explosions in states across the country, among other issues. In order to protect our essential water resources, we need a national ban on fracking.

I urge you to protect your constituents by calling for a national ban on hydraulic fracking.

Sincerely,

Your Signature

Thank you for joining with the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart and other members of the Catholic Coalition for Justice and Peace in protecting our limited natural resources in Pennsylvania.
