Fact of the Week: Child Poverty Rates Top 50 Percent in More Than 40 U.S. Counties

A sobering statistic! A New Year’s resolution might be “to see life through the eyes of one of these children.” We are reminded of the quote from Teilhard de Chardin:

“Seeing. We might say that the whole of life lies in that verb.”

As we remember our own Savior’s birth in humble circumstances, let us not forget today’s children.We share with you the following from Coalition on Human Needs:

Voices for Human Needs has posted a new item, ‘Fact of the Week: Child Poverty Rates Top 50 Percent in More Than 40 U.S. Counties’

At least one out of every two kids is poor in more than 40 counties in America, data released Wednesday by the Census Bureau revealed. The 2013 data is from the Small Area Income and Poverty Estimates (SAIPE) program, which provides one-year income and poverty statistics for all 3,140 counties and nearly 14,000 school districts.  Read More
