Action Alert! Say “No” to Anti-Immigrant Amendments

This week, the Senate will take up funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and urgent action is needed to ensure that they pass a clean funding bill free from harmful anti-immigrant amendments.

Use the NETWORK action hotline 1-888-496-3502 to call your senators and urge them to defend the dignity and rights of immigrants by passing a clean DHS funding bill free from negative riders. Call twice to reach each of your two senators.

The House-passed bill, H.R. 240, included many anti-immigrant riders that would eliminate Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), prevent any funding or fee collection to support implementation of the president’s recent executive actions, and reduce prosecutorial discretion by Immigration and Customs Enforcement — eliminating the ability to process deportations of priority targets and close cases of others, including victims of domestic violence. The Senate must not make the same mistakes as the House.

Hi, I’m (NAME), and I am calling from (CITY). As your constituent, I want the senator to know that I strongly oppose any attempts to defund, attack, or prevent the implementation of President Obama’s executive actions on immigration. I also ask the senator to prevent any changes to further limit immigrant eligibility to receive healthcare, Social Security, or tax credits. As a person of faith, I ask the Senator to ensure the protection of immigrants who have been positively contributing to our communities for years. Please make sure that any DHS funding bill is free of harmful anti-immigrant riders.
