Vocation Update

Written on: October 28, 2015

Vocation Ministry follows a “school” calendar, quiet in the summer, more activity in the Fall.

The first week in November is “Vocation Awareness Week.” This was changed a few years back to coincide with the Feast of All Saints; Saints being regular people who lived their baptismal call in extraordinary ways. Our Religious  Women and Men provide real life examples of how anyone can do this, so here’s to all of our wonderful Religious!

Here in the Philly area we are working on 2 projects that focus on young college women.  One is an extension of our outreach to young Hispanics  and the other is the result of a great retreat experience at Villanova last year.

  • On Nov. 5 the NRVC regional Hispanic Committee members will meet with Cabrini College students to gather their wisdom about what they seek in the Church. Please pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit!
  • Last Friday, Oct. 23, a 5 week Life Decisions conversation began at Villanova.  Five vocation directors are working with the group, 2 at a time, on what it means to discern your vocation using scripture and prayer, and some fun activities.

We ask your prayers for the success of these two ventures.  Strengthening the faith of young Catholics is one of the gifts of vocation ministry to the Church.
