Currently, Sister Dolores Beatty (Sister Mary of Nazareth) volunteers as the receptionist at Grey Nun Academy in Yardley, PA. This school is dear to her heart as she was Principal there for thirteen years and then and now loved being with the children. Sister Dolores has been an educator her entire religious life, first in elementary school as a kindergarten teacher and then as a history, social studies teacher at St. Pius X High School in Atlanta and Bishop McDevitt High School in Wyncote, Pennsylvania. She rounded out her ministry years as Director of Religious Education at St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Fallsington.
Over the past 60 years I have been the recipient of innumerable blessings as a Grey Nun of the Sacred Heart. Just alone, the many educational opportunities I have received afforded me with the “tools of my trade”—my love of teaching from Kindergarten through High School, Administration, and Parish Religious Education. It was in this ministry of education that I have met students, parents, colleagues, and friends who continue to enrich my life to the fullest. I share prayer and community with women of wit, wisdom, and grace who model for me the meaning of sacrifice and perseverance in religious life, together with love, laughter, tears, and joy! I look forward to this celebration with my sisters, family, and friends, my companions on the journey, as I reflect on the many gifts I receive daily, and number each of them among my greatest treasures. Life is all about relationship, and they consistently mirror for me the God Presence. I am truly grateful for these years filled with so many varied experiences of learning, stretching, and with God’s grace, growing in wholeness and holiness.
