Sister John Helen and her twin brother met the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart in first grade at St. Mary’s School in Ogdensburg, New York, where she encountered Sister Helen of the Blessed Sacrament who became a lifelong friend. For the next 16 years, she was taught by the Grey Nuns so the decision to enter the congregation was an easy one. A lifelong teacher and school administrator, she began her teaching career in Paoli, PA, moved on to Atlanta, and to Western New York. Eventually she returned to the place of her birth. During her years in education, she taught at all levels from elementary school through college. She worked for many years as an educator at Ogdensburg Correctional Facility. She loves and for years trained dogs and misses having them in her present home in the Philadelphia area.
My life has been filled with many blessings, beginning with my parents, brothers, grandparents, relatives and friends. Thanks be to God! In my 60 years as a Grey Nun, I have watched many people carry on St. Marguerite’s work. To my Main family and my Grey Nun family and friends, I say, “Blessed are you who have made it known, I’m loved and respected and not alone. Deo Gratias!”
Good afternoon,
I have been wondering how SisterJohn Hellen ❤️ is doing?
Love,
Sheila Sansoucy Peo
Thanks for checking on her, Sheila! Very kind of you. We’ll get back to you via email with an update.
I do not know what possessed me to look you up, but while I am here, I have to say, “Bonjour!” You taught me and my brother Donnie both first and second grade at IHMS in Atlanta, but we then moved back to Chicago. I celebrate your anniversary, albeit belatedly. Thank you for your love, patience, dedication, and encouragement. Your life has been a blessing to so many. Merci.
