Perhaps you have already received this email from Catholic Climate Covenant and made your pledge. If you haven’t here’s your chance to do so and not only do it yourself, but pass it on to all you know who may also want to take the pledge to:
We joyfully celebrate with you the second anniversary of Pope Francis’ inspiring and transformative encyclical Laudato Si’: On Care for Our Common Home.
To mark this historical moment, we are re-launching an updated St. Francis/Laudato Si’ Pledge. Over 10,000 individuals and families and 75 institutions have taken the St. Francis Pledge. They committed to living out their Catholic values through prayer, concrete action, and advocacy.
In affirmation of the Catholic Church’s social teaching to care for creation and the poor, and in light of our nation’s withdrawal from the Paris Agreement, we invite you to recommit, or for the first time commit to the newly updated St. Francis/Laudato Si’ Pledge.
We are also delighted to work in partnership with the Global Catholic Climate Movement and contribute to their goal of having 12 million Catholics worldwide pledge commit to climate action.
From St. Francis to Pope Francis: By taking the updated St. Francis/Laudato Si’ Pledge you commit/recommit to put Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’ and St. Francis of Assisi’s creation care values into action by:
1) Praying with and for creation.
2) Living more simply by lowering your family’s, parish’s, religious community’s carbon footprint.
3) Advocating to protect our common home.
Celebrate Laudato Si’ today and every day! Don’t worry if you already have taken the “old” St. Francis Pledge. Recommit yourself, your family, your parish, school, or religious community by taking the NEW St. Francis/Laudato Si’ Pledge. Or newly commit to praying, living, advocating for creation!
Join us in commemorating Laudato Si’ by living Laudato Si’ !
Blessings,
Catholic Climate Covenant
