The Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart are pleased to announce that they have been chosen to send a team to participate in the Vocation Ambassador Program which will be held at Holy Cross College in South Bend, IN, in June. The National Religious Vocation Conference (NRVC) secured funding through the Hilton Foundation to cover all costs of participation in the program, excluding transportation. This is a wonderful gift and a a great opportunity.
The program is designed to assist Vocation Directors and Communications Directors in their work for their Congregation and also with the young adults whom they are attempting to educate about religious life. A focus of the workshop will be on social media as a way to introduce religious life and the various congregations to a new generation.
The Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart will be sending Sister Eileen Spanier, Mrs. Maryellen Glackin and a student from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, Sarah Freer. Sarah has worked closely with Sister Eileen Spanier in her ministry in North Carolina.
A purpose of the program is to assist us in getting the message out to young adults that religious life is still a viable option in today’s world. We also want to let them know about the good works Sisters, Brothers and Priests have done, and continue to do. We will be looking specifically at ways to share the charism of St. Marguerite as embodied in the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart. If you would like to learn more about the program, which is in its second year, please click here.
We look forward to sharing what we learn and what we are planning when we return.
