The Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart held our annual congregational meeting, October 7 & 8 at the Basilian Spirituality Center. Seventy Sisters were able to attend.
We met to listen and to share about important questions related to governance, leadership and our current reality as a congregation.
A panel of speakers gave us a snapshot of how we are organized now given all the transition that has occurred. Speakers included: Sr. Diane Bardol, who explained our organizational structures and Sr. Julia Lanigan who clarified our Community Life structure and connection with the Abramson Center. Other panelists were: Pat Cohen (Central Finance Office); Jane Selinske (Community Life Team); Chris Domzalski (Director of Health Services); and Lana Pozdnyakov, (Abramson Center). They each spoke about their area of expertise and how they interact with each other and the sisters.
As pre-planning for Chapter (April 8-13, 2018) discussions and conversations took place about electing delegates and potential leadership needed for the next five years. These conversations were all placed within the backdrop of who we are at this time in our congregational life.
Day two provided opportunities to discuss and share on the role of Leadership for our future. Sr. Margaret O’Brien, OSU, our spiritual guide for Chapter 2018, led us through these two very packed days. In the end she challenged us to think about:
“what qualities of leadership are you willing to follow, since leaders need followers!”
It was a good meeting with fruitful sharing!
We will continue to pray for you.
