Farewell to Sister Mary Charlotte Barton

Written on: March 1, 2018

Sister Mary Charlotte Barton

recently made the decision to retire after a long, landmark career in education, community leadership and most recently as Archivist and Assistant Archivist.  Sisters don’t really retire, they move into another ministry and for Sister Mary Charlotte, this will be a time focused on praying for the needs of the world, and her special Grey Nun friends and Associates, with hopefully some fun and relaxing thrown in for good balance!

We will miss your presence in our offices, your infectious chuckle, and twinkling eyes, as well as your wisdom and unmatched Institutional memory.  God Speed!

Great news you hopefully will enjoy your free time with fun and restful activities. Sr. Elaine would/will be thrilled. Finally you are taking some time for you. Love & peace

So happy for you, Sr. Mary Charlotte Barton! I am a GNSHA from Buffalo and was in the first group to become Associates there. I kept a scrapbook and was wondering if this would be something the Archives would be interested in having. After I moved to Texas I was Convener for the At A Distance Associates for quite a few years and then I was joined Sr. Penska’s group again, however, since she has passed I never receive anything from this group. I don’t even know who is Convener for the group or if they have anyone who took it over. My email is SLBGNSHA@AOL.COM. If D’Youville would like this scrapbook I could mail it to them if I knew where and to whom would like it.
