We are pleased to announce the names of our Sisters who celebrate 70, 60 and 50 years as Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart in 2018. We rejoice with, congratulate and thank the following Sisters for their combined 430 Years of dedicated service:
“All in all, after almost three quarters of a century as a Grey Nun of the Sacred Heart, I remain a proud and grateful member.”
“It was a joy to be accepted into the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart where I was privileged to receive courses in education, library science and spirituality.”
“At the time of my 25th Jubilee, a prisoner was released in my honor. What a gift that was for me! Other experiences include sleeping with shopping bag ladies every Saturday night for a year at St. Francis Inn in Philadelphia, and living among the poor in Trenton’s inner city for 18 years.”
“My devotion to the Sacred Heart and to St. Marguerite d’Youville helps me to create a compassionate world as I live each day serving others.”
“Jubilee is a time when I am filled with gratitude to God. It is also a moment when I am filled with gratitude for the many people whose love and companionship have strengthend and sustained me on the journey. It’s a Wonderful Life!”
“The Hebrew scriptures hold the jubilee year as sacred. It is a time of restoration and freedom from slavery. I hope that this celebration is a time to be open to God’s graciousness.”
“I tried to stay true to Marguerite’s legacy of spreading the Good News of God’s compassionate love by offering protection and assistance to those whose lives lacked stability.”
At the Jubilee Celebration, Sister Jean Liston reflected on the meaning of Jubilee, and their lives as Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart. Her reflection is available here.
My husband and children and I send our sincerest congratulations to all these wonderful sisters…with special love to Sr. Jean and Sr. Bernadette. Our prayers are that your excellent work continues for years to come.
Attended Cathedral pic Elementary School 3rd – 8 1/2, taught by GNSH. Many terrific educators. Respected and loved them. One Sister had even taught my father. She was terrific. So were school Principals.
Congratulations to all the Sisters celebrating their jubilees. I know all the Sisters, except Sister Nora
