We strongly encourage you to sign this petition. Recently someone said that she was reluctant to sign these actions because your email address then gets “out there.” Although that is true, sometimes the risk is better than inaction. It really is your call, though.

Representative David Cicilline of Rhode Island just introduced legislation to ban assault weapons. And it already has a record 190 co-sponsors.

Cicilline’s bill is the best chance we’ve had to pass this measure since the last federal assault weapons ban expired in 2004.

But let’s not kid ourselves—it’s still a long-shot unless tens of thousands of Americans come together to call for change. Change that means that our lives are more important than the gun manufacturers’ profits. Change that means weapons of war are kept off the streets in places of peace.

With your help, we can make a federal ban on assault weapons a reality. It won’t be easy, but we can do it. Please add your name to our petition today to call on Congress to pass Congressman Cicilline’s new bill and save lives across America ADD YOUR NAME 

America has suffered far too many mass shootings since the last federal ban on assault weapons expired.
