North Country Potsdam Associates (Submitted by Joe Tebo)

The Potsdam Associates just finished a two–year exploration and reading of  “Abandonment to Divine Providence” by Fr. Jean-Pierre de Caussade.  Fr. de Caussade was a contemporary of St. Marguerite D’Youville.

We also enjoy having dinner together and taking turns at cooking each month.  We will celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart with the Ogdensburg Associates at St. Mary’s Cathedral Noon Mass, followed by a luncheon at a local restaurant. Current Potsdam Associates are Mary Enslow, Joe Tebo, and Rose Preston.

Joe Tebo was trying to identify the Sister in this picture which hangs in the Norfolk Parish Center. She has been identified as Sister Irene Mary Murphy who served as treasurer of the Congregation and taught at D’Youville College.

Marguerite’s Pantry

Sister Anne Marie Beirne continues to be a presence at Marguerite’s Pantry in Queens, NY. On Saturday May 18th, about 140 families were fed through the efforts of MANY volunteers. Thank you, Sr. Anne Marie for being the presence of the GNSH at this outstanding ministry!

From the Sisters at Holy Redeemer Lafayette

Thank you to Sr. Patsy Geary for her work in preparing the calendar of activities at Holy Redeemer Lafayette. On May  14, the Centennial Singers sang a concert for the Sisters and residents. Our own Sr. Mary Karen Kelly and Sr. Anne Zita Crudden are members of this outstanding singing group.

The monthly Saturday morning gathering of GNSH is the last Saturday of every month.

There is  a GNSH contingent that joins in Bingo on Tuesdays at 7:30 pm!

Is it for the companionship, or the prizes, Sisters? Nice to know our Sisters are living a balanced life or prayer, community and some fun!

On May 1st, Sisters Barbara Harrington, Sheila Stone and Jean O’Shaunecy attended the May procession and crowning of Mary at the Diocesan offices in Buffalo.

Sister Mary Sue Thomas gets an assist from Sr. Diane Bardol during the Crowning of Mary at the Magnificat Center. The celebration took place on Saturday May 18.

Visit with the Buffalo Associates

Over Memorial Day weekend, Sister Barbara Schiavoni and Angel Conicelli traveled to Buffalo. Their purpose was two-fold, to meet with the Buffalo Associates and to attend the Memorial Mass for Sr. Annie Striegl who died in March. They had a productive meeting with the Associates and shared many ideas.  (They worked so diligently they forgot to take pictures!) On a nature walk later in the weekend, Angel shared some of these photos.

HAPPY BIRTHDAYS and FEAST DAY!

Happy Birthday to our Sisters and employees who will celebrate their special day in June: Sr. Jean Liston (9); Eileen Dickerson (10); Sr. Sally White (12); Sr. Jean O’Shaunecy (14); Sr. John Helen Main (15); Sr. Dolores Fitzpatrick (22); Sr. Donna Lord (22); Sr. Nora Friel (29); Sr. Kathleen Early (30). Sister Marie Christi Drysdale celebrates her Feast Day on Corpus Christi (23).

May the year ahead hold many blessings for you! (And extra ice cream!)

Thanks for telling us who the Sister was. I will pass the information on the Parish in Norwood.
