Sisters Joan Daly and Kathleen Purser recently moved to Artis Senior Living in Huntingdon Valley, PA. From their first days at Artis, Sisters Joan and Kay have been reaching out to other residents with kind words, comfort and encouragement.
In late August, Sr. Denise missioned the Sisters to share their gifts, in the spirit of St. Marguerite, as “Resident and Helper” with the Artis community. Sr. Kay’s missioning letter recognized her ability to relate to people in need of companionship and assistance: “Your kindness and compassion will ease the lives of many and provide comfort, as St. Marguerite did.” As well, Sr. Joan’s gifts of friendliness, warmth, healing presence and prayerfulness were recognized in the spirit of St. Marguerite.
As part of her responsibilities as Director of Mission, Sister Diane Bardol will coordinate opportunities to provide spiritual enrichment for our Sisters and other residents at Artis.
On Sept. 5, Diane offered a prayer gathering on the Season of Creation. She encouraged everyone to see creation and each other with new eyes, recognizing the presence of God in all of life. Several Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart joined the Artis community to pray though song, images and words.
In October, Sr. Diane will present a spiritual program for residents of Artis to introduce them to St. Marguerite. We have offered similar programs to residents in all of our new homes over the past few years.
Let us keep Sisters Joan, Kay and Diane, and those they will serve, in our prayers in this new extension of our Grey Nun mission.
