Moved to Ministry

Written on: November 27, 2019

The following is from Sr. Mary Elizabeth Looby, GNSH

Just as Jesus was moved to ministry by entering into relationship with other people along his path, we too are moved by stories and relationships.

I recently returned from my second trip to the village of Sang, located in the Northeast corner of Ghana. It was a  delight to see again the Marian Sisters of Eucharistic Love and the children of Nazareth Home for God’s Children and to renew relationships there.

In March, there were three novices, now there are five! While I was there in November, two women became postulants. I continued my classes with the novices of the small growing community of sisters dedicated to caring for these precious children. We began looking at Pope Francis’ encyclical “The Joy of the Gospel.”

I told the novices that my sisters would love to “meet” them and learn about them. They prepared some brief introductions for me to share with you. Three are getting ready to make first vows on Feb. 8, 2020: Mary, Audrey and Eva. Two just became novices this past September: Martha and Rita.

I hope to introduce each sister using their own words in the coming months. In the meantime, I invite you to keep Sisters Mary, Audrey and Eva (pictured above) in your prayers as they prepare to make their first profession in February.
