Thanksgiving Thoughts

Written on: November 27, 2019

The following is from our President, Sr. Denise Roche

Each of us approaches Thanksgiving in a different way.  There are those who remember a robust family feast and are sad because of the loss of that personal experience and the special people who were a part of our lives at that time.

Some of us lament the passing of time and our own inability to cook or care for others on this day of feasting.

Whoever we are and whatever time of life we are experiencing, each of us has many gifts for which we can be grateful.  The very fact that we have a new day to experience when we awaken, the precious memories we hold so dear, the food that nourishes us, the dwelling in which we live and the many other parts of life which often are taken for granted or which go unnoticed by us are far less available to many of our sisters and brothers around the world.

Beyond it all, we have our faith, our belief in God’s limitless love for us.  What a joy it is to know that, whatever else changes, God’s love and care for us is always present – and always will be!  That conviction sustains us in difficult times, encourages us in frightening and lonely times and comforts and gives us hope at all times.  As we thank God – and one another – for the gifts that we notice and those that we do not, let us be grateful for that one, great love which has been with us since the beginning, through all circumstances and remains with us always.

My thanks to you for reminding me daily that God is with us and within us and that we can experience God’s presence and concern through one another.

Now, — thank we all our God!
