Happy 50th Birthday, Earth Day!

Written on: April 1, 2020

On Wednesday, April 22, 2020, we on our planet celebrate the 50th Earth Day.  Think of how much more aware we are of our environment and how we have grown in caring for our Common Home. The current coronavirus shows that we are truly a global society.

In June, we celebrate 5 years since Pope Francis proclaimed Laudato Si! Blessed Be!
Recall how excited we were to receive this encyclical, to study it and to try to live and act in its spirit.

As we approach this Earth Day, the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart Earth Committee shaped plans for celebration. With the impact of the coronavirus and social distancing, we have had to revise our plans.  We will provide a Prayer and Reflection for that day. Many will be praying alone, but in community of heart with all Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart and Associates.

The Prayer Service, suitable for both private and small group prayer will be made available here.

Throughout Lent we are posting to our social media sites, ways to care for the Earth as part of our Lenten prayers. Please be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Archived posts are available on our Flickr account.
