Sister Joan Daly (Joseph Marie)- 60th Jubilee

Written on: May 6, 2020

Sister Joan’s family moved from Malden, MA, to Buffalo, NY, when Joan was very young. She spent her high school years at Holy Angels Academy where she first met the Grey Nuns. Her early assignments were as an elementary teacher at Immaculate Heart of Mary School and Christ the King School in Atlanta, GA. After completing a degree in Philosophy at D’Youville College, she taught Grey Nun novices at Sacred Heart Junior College in Yardley, PA. She enjoyed working as a Pastoral Assistant at Our Lady of Loretta Parish in Buffalo, NY and from this experience felt called to pursue a Master’s degree in Pastoral Studies at St. Paul University in Ottawa, Canada. She then served as Pastoral Associate, Director of Religious Education and Spiritual Life Counselor in parishes in Georgia: Corpus Christi in Stone Mountain, St. John the Evangelist in Hapeville and St. Brendan in Cumming. In addition, she was a member of the Mission Team for the Diocese of Allentown, PA. and the Parish Renewal Team for the Buffalo Diocese, Coordinator of Grey Nun Associates and served as a member of the Leadership Team for the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart. Sister Joan presently resides in the Philadelphia area.

I am amazed at how God has shaped and fashioned my life through sixty years as a Grey Nun! I am thankful for the blessings of living the charism, of breaking open the Scriptures and collaborating with the laity in diverse ministries and communities. Walking the road in the spirit of St. Marguerite has been full of challenges, blessings, learnings and love. God has walked with me and shown me the way and continues to be present with me every day.
