Sister Maria Christi Drysdale- 60th Jubilee

Written on: May 6, 2020

After a long and very fulfilling life in ministries as a teacher and in service to the homeless, Sister Maria Christi now volunteers with Holy Redeemer Health System and in the Grey Nuns’ Congregational Advancement Office.  She was raised in Philadelphia and attended St. Stephen’s School and often helped out the Sisters of St. Joseph at the convent. While attending Little Flower High School, she met the Grey Nuns and after a year in the Cadet Teaching Program of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, she entered the congregation. In the early years of her religious life, Sister Maria taught in various schools, including St. Mary’s School in Kodiak, Alaska.  She served as Business Manager for the Cardinal’s Commission on Human Relations and Urban Ministry before becoming Director of Old St. Joseph’s Outreach Ministries to the Homeless where she met the needs of many, especially men, who lived on the streets of Philadelphia. Always called to the service of the poor, she worked for Catholic Social Services as a Case Manager in Bucks County, providing supportive service to all who reached out for help. Before her official retirement, she was Administrative Assistant for the PREP Program at St. John the Evangelist Parish in Morrisville, PA. Her volunteer service, as well as all of her life, is a response to the needs that she sees always before her.

The celebration of my 60th Jubilee continues to be one of praise and thanksgiving:

To God who called me and has truly blessed me a hundredfold with a good life and the energy to serve in a variety of ministries over the years.

To my parents who nurtured me and instilled in me a deep faith in God and a spirit of service to those in need.

To my Grey Nuns sisters and the people I have encountered over the years who have enriched my life by their presence and insights.
