Action Alert: Help for Honduras

Written on: November 16, 2020

Water With Blessings, is a non-profit organization preparing to provide critical assistance to the people of Honduras. Perhaps you would like to help? Thanks for taking the time to read and act in whatever way you can, remembering that passing this on to family and friends is an important way to take action.  Sister Diane

The following comes from our friends at Water With Blessings.

Hurricane Eta has devastated Honduras, leaving behind homes destroyed, water treatment severely hampered, with drinking water being rationed.  In response to this tragic event, Water With Blessings, a non-profit organization in Middletown, Kentucky, is preparing to provide critical assistance to citizens in the area.

Since 2008, Water With Blessings has provided life-saving water filters to mothers in the area and training in the use of filters by local workers.  Now, the need for those filters is even more urgent.  Our team in Honduras will soon go to the hurricane-affected area with water filters and will deploy and train recipients for 300-450 filters per week.  This is literally a lifeline for thousands of Water Women.  Clean drinking water will become available for a minimum of 1,500 new households per week—around 6,000 individuals.

Water With Blessings will be a bridge to recovery from this massive hurricane for thousands of Hondurans.

The plan for relief includes the following areas of work and collaboration:

  • The Sawyer Company (that produces the filter) will match all filters for immediate distribution in Honduras 1:1 for the next two weeks;
  • Another donor is prepared to provide funds for 2,500 filters
  • The Water With Blessings team is ready to deploy on Monday, November 16, and will be engaged in distribution and training for at least three months.
  • Data and analysis reports will be provided.

At this time Water With Blessings has 5000 filters committed, but need sponsorships at a reduced rate of $50 each per filter, to match the filters that have been provided by Quality Home Products of Houston, Texas and Sawyer Products of Tampa, Florida.

We have heard it said, “It takes a village.”  It will take a village of people willing to donate funds for us to provide the essential training and water filters to save lives.
