Sister Loretta Wundrok, GNSH, 84, formerly Sister Loretta Joseph, died November 4, 2020 in her 67th year of religious life. A native New Yorker, this lifelong educator served as Teacher, Principal and School Librarian during her years of ministry. For 41 years Sister was assigned to various locations in her home state, including Buffalo, Jackson Heights, Corona, Port Washington and St. Albans.
For
20 years Sister served at St. Mary’s in Potsdam where she was Principal for 19 of those years. Additional school assignments included Atlanta, GA (1962-73) and King of Prussia, PA.
From 2007-2011 Sister volunteered in ministry to the elderly homebound in Rockville Centre Diocese.

After retiring to the Motherhouse, Sister continued to engage in intracommunity service until moving to Holy Redeemer Lafayette in 2016.  

Daughter of the late Joseph and Loretta Finn Wundrok, Sister was born February 25, 1936 in New York, NY. She graduated from Blessed Sacrament School (1950) and St. Michaels’ High School (1953), entering the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart in that same year.  She received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from D’Youville College, Buffalo, NY (1966) and an MA/Ed from Eastern Kentucky University (1971).

In addition to her religious congregation Sister Loretta is survived by her sister, Kay Wadsworth and nieces and nephews.  Her brother, Joseph predeceased her.

A viewing will be held at 9:00 a.m. in Maternity B.V.M. Church, 9220 Old Bustleton Ave., Philadelphia, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday November 11.

    Sister Loretta was a loving Aunt , and great Aunt to Laura
    Jablonsky and her three sons( Brian, Jason and Charlie).She never forgot a Birthday and was always supportive of her
    Nephews from birth. She will be greatly missed!
