What is that saying about old dogs and new tricks? Well, the GNSH disproved that old trope when about 60 Sisters, over three screens gathered by Zoom to pray, listen, discuss and share.
Sister Denise Roche welcomed everyone to this first large group virtual gathering.
Sisters Rita Margraff, Mary Lee Farrell, Joan Elias and Kate Woody began the meeting with prayer focused on the historical and spiritual journey of the Congregation since 1921. Tribute was paid to the brave women who forged a new place in history with the first Grey Nun Congregation formed specifically to serve in the United States.
After Sister Margaret O’Brien spoke with the Sisters, everyone was sent to virtual small groups to share what was heard and felt from Margaret’s words. The meeting concluded with a return to the larger forum and a brief sharing. As a bonus, the virtual gathering was recorded for a few Sisters who were not able to be present for the live presentation.
Although meeting virtually can’t match meeting in person, everyone agreed that it worked well and was better than not being able to meet at all.
From everyone logging in, to getting in and out of the breakout rooms, and a usable recording, the tech support (me) let out a sigh of relief when everything actually worked as planned!
