“With the Apostolic Letter “Patris corde” (“With a Father’s Heart”), Pope Francis recalls the 150th anniversary of the declaration of Saint Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church. To mark the occasion, the Holy Father has proclaimed a “Year of Saint Joseph” from December 8, 2020, to December 8, 2021.” Vatican News
As Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart, we would like to join our Holy Father and the Universal Church in celebrating the virtues of Joseph and contemplating how we might strengthen them in our own lives. The Spiritual Animation Committee would like to offer you some prayer aides to help you celebrate this Year of St. Joseph.
Attached here you will find a St. Joseph Prayer Service that would be perfect for the Feast on March 19th and a St. Joseph Bookmark to print and use throughout the year. The picture of Joseph on the bookmark (seen above) was created by a Carmelite Sister of Reno and the prayer below it is the prayer Pope Francis included at the end of his Apostolic Letter, “Patris Corde.” On the reverse side is a summary list of the virtues of Saint Joseph found in the apostolic exhortation. The Spiritual Animation Committee plans to highlight these seven virtues in the “Spiritual Sidebar” section of our Grey Nun NewsNotes Publication over the next seven months.
We all have stories and connections to “Joseph,” whether it be a namesake in our families, a favorite parish or diocese from our past or even a special intention that was granted through the intercession of Saint Joseph. We encourage you to spend some time reflecting on those wonderful gifts during this special year.
If you would like to read “Patris Corde” in its entirety you will find it online HERE>>
