GNSH Associates
Associate Claire Keighley has made head scarves to be given to Sisters and Associates who have breast cancer. The scarves were made with pre-washed, 100% cotton. The note reads, “I hope these will bring comfort to those who receive them. God Bless, Claire.” Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness, Claire. Your gift is a blessing and a joy!

An article written by Associate, JoeTebo, appeared in the North Country Catholic for our 100th Anniversary. Thank you Joe, for such a nice tribute to the history of the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart , especially those from Ogdensburg, NY and Lowell, MA.  You can access the full article here.

Speaking of the 100th Anniversary…
In honor of the 100th Anniversary, the GNSH office colleagues presented the Sisters with a bench, which was placed at Holy Redeemer Lafayette where many of our Sisters reside, and many others visit. The gift was presented to Leadership at a small luncheon to mark this auspicious occasion.
The plaque reads:

Honoring the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart
A Century of Love, A Century of Service
100th Anniversary 2021

Back to the Border– submitted by Sr. Diane Bardol
On Friday, September 24th,  Sister Bridget Connor and I departed for El Paso, Texas to work with Annunciation House, an organization that provides food, clothing, shelter and other basic necessities for asylum seekers while they must wait to hear from their sponsor.
While in El Paso we will be living at a former convent of the Sisters of Loretto.  Sister Bridget will be staying until October 9th at which time my sister, Mary Bardol, will arrive for her two-week volunteer stint! Then on October 24th, my sister and I will return home, me to Philadelphia, and Mary to Buffalo.
I will try to write a weekly update of what is happening there and ask that you pray for all those seeking asylum, that they will be received with welcoming arms.
Peace,  Sister Diane
You may recall that this is Sr. Diane’s 3rd trip to the border, her sister Mary’s 2nd trip and now, a first for Sr. Bridget Connor. We  wish you Godspeed, and many blessings as you go in our name!

Thank You Note
I am grateful for my many years. I thank all Grey Nuns, Grey Nun Associates, colleagues and friends who contacted me with calls, cards and email for my birthday. I feel privileged and appreciative.
God bless you!   Sister Anne Boyer, GNSH
