Climate Change and Our Relationship with Earth

Written on: January 24, 2022

The Buddhist monk, Thich Nhat Hanh died January 22, 2022 at the age of 95. In 2014, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) approached Thich Nhat Hanh as an international faith leader, asking him to make a brief statement about climate change and our relationship to one another and to the Earth. This statement was published on the UNFCCC website, ahead of the Paris Climate Summit in September 2015.

We urge you to read, or re-read the statement. As you read it, hear how it resonates with the thoughts and understanding of Laudato Si, though written a year earlier. Click here for printable copy.
