The term “Synod” means “together along the path.” With Synod 2021-2023, Pope Francis invites the whole Church into a dialogue on how the People of God journey together with the Holy Spirit to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. In the words of Pope Francis, the purpose of the Synod is to “plant dreams, draw forth prophecies and visions, allow hope to be nourished, inspire trust, bind up wounds, weave together relationships, awaken a dawn of hope, learn from one another, and create a bright resourcefulness that will enlighten minds, warm hearts, give strength to our hands.” (Synod Preparatory Document, quoting Pope Francis.) The Pope’s words certainly resonate with our GNSH Mission of
“Creating a Compassionate World!”
This Synod is unique in that everyone is invited to participate. Pope Francis specifically wants to hear from those who are “on the margins,” those whose voices are often lost or ignored. The Grey Nuns will host two Synod listening sessions. The first will be in-person Wednesday March 9 at 10 am, at Lafayette Redeemer. The second will be a Zoom session on Wednesday, March 16 at 2pm. We hope you will join us for this important conversation! Sisters, Associates and friends are invited to share experiences and hopes for the Church, and our feedback will be submitted to the Synod.
This is a nice scripture.
