100th Anniversary Celebration

Written on: April 28, 2022

On Tuesday April 26, we were finally able to celebrate together the 100th Anniversary of the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart. Thank you to the planning committee: Sr. Cecelia Cosgrove, Chair, Sr. Rita Margraff, Debbie Adams and Eileen Dickerson who worked diligently to plan activities for the Anniversary and to share information about the history of the GNSH.

Although the celebration we had was on a smaller scale than was originally dreamed, it was perfect in its own way. The sun came out. Most of our Sisters and many of our Grey Nun Associates were present. Those who support the mission of the Congregation, our former and current colleagues, and financial advisors, came to celebrate with the Sisters. We are especially grateful to our honorary Grey Nun, Rev. Charlie Noone for presiding at our Eucharistic liturgy. It is always wonderful to have him with us.  Readings and hymns for our liturgy invited us to remember our call to love one another and to give our lives for others.  We would be very remiss not to mention the wonderful Medical Mission Choir who supported Sr. Mary Lee Farrell, GNSH in leading us in song. Knowlton Mansion, where festivities were held, is a beautiful setting, made lovelier by the beautiful flowers from Yellow Daffodil Flowers and Gifts in Langhorne, associated with Woods Services.

First of all congratulations on your 100 years of loving service. I was touched by the comments of Srs Denise and Eileen. It made me recall the many happy memories that I had in community with the Grey Nuns. Those years have enriched my lives.
