Sister Kathleen Hannan, a native of Ogdensburg, New York, has had several careers in her 75 years as a Grey Nun of the Sacred Heart.
A gifted musician, she taught music in elementary schools and at Sacred Heart Junior College, a school for the education of Grey Nun novices. Her change in ministry came with the completion of a master’s in social work degree from Boston College.
Beginning in the early 70’s, she ministered as a social worker and counselor in various sites in the Philadelphia area and in upstate New York. She served as Director of Social Service at St. Joseph’s Home in Ogdensburg, New York, before moving to Watertown, NY, where she established a private counseling practice.
At present, she lives with other Grey Nuns at Holy Redeemer Lafayette in Philadelphia. She enjoys time for solitude and prayer and also participates in some of the programs offered by Lafayette Redeemer including Mass when possible.
“Gratitude is uppermost in my thoughts and feelings at this time of reminiscing. By God’s loving Providence, as a Grey Nun of the Sacred Heart, I have benefited from my extensive education. Many of my sister Grey Nuns have provided guidance in spirituality and have nurtured my personal wellbeing and growth. Our present Leadership, I pray, will receive limitless grace and blessings for their loving provision and care for each of us.”
You are blessed sr.kathleen and my prayers are with you…
