Benefit for Asylee Women Enterprise

Sister Bridget Connor, a Grey Nun of the Sacred Heart and a native of Philadelphia, will host an exhibition of her artwork on Sunday, September 18, 2022. The art show, featuring works in oil, will be held at Cranaleith Spiritual Center, 13475 Proctor Road, Philadelphia from 2pm to 8 pm.

Proceeds from the exhibition will benefit Asylee Women Enterprise (AWE) of Baltimore, Maryland. AWE is a 501(c)3 organization that provides housing and community support for women seeking asylum. AWE journeys with asylum seekers and other forced migrants as they navigate the immigration legal process and begin to heal from past traumas. Under AWE’s auspices, the women offer mutual support to one another in a safe and supportive environment.

Eight congregations of Catholic women religious began working together in 2011 to provide housing and community support for these women. The Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart were among the founding congregations. While AWE maintains close relationships with these congregations, it is now a secular organization. Laura Brown, Executive Director of AWE, will make a brief presentation at 3pm.

As founding members, the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart continue their support of AWE.
