Her care and concern for the elderly and home bound led her to serve for a decade in home care nursing at Keystone Home Care and Hospice, Temple Lower Bucks Home Care and Lower Bucks Hospice Home Care.
Her own medical condition forced her to retire in 2008, but she continued to engage in Intracommunity service. A recipient of a kidney transplant, she volunteered for several years as a driver for Philadelphia’s Gift of Life, and their Howie’s House, where she met and supported families of transplant patients.

God rest the soul of Sr. Joan Marie. I had the great pleasure of meeting her through Sr James Maureen and Sr Marie Cecile. What a beautiful person Sr Joan Marie was. I am grateful for the times that I was able to visit her and Sr Marie Cecile at Holy Redeemer.
Rest in Peace with Our Lord, Dear Sr Joan Marie. Thank you for your kindness and for all you did in this Life.

I did not have the honor of knowing sister Joan, but reading her obituary and her passion for nursing – especially care of the elderly and hospice patients, I can personally relate as that has been a large part of my nursing career since my graduation from D’Youville University in 1975. Rest in the peace of Christ Sister Joan; it seems you have been an inspiration to so many and may they carry your selfless spirit and faith through their lives!
I have forever held her in my heart. She was my seventh grade teacher at St. Leo’s and we all loved her. Her memory will always be with me. May she rest in peace. ❤️ and play the piano for Jesus, she is surely an angel.
Sister Joan and I went to Sacred Heart Hospital Nursing school. Only at different times. She was a lovely caring person.
Mike, sending sincere condolences on the passing of your Aunt Joan. Sounds like she had a remarkable life. Praying for you and Ingrid and all of your family at this difficult time. Focus on how wonderful it is that Aunt Joan is in Heaven for eternity with our Lord.
May Sister rest in the arms of the angels!
