Becoming a partner in Mission can enhance your life in big ways or small ways. Like many things in life, you can jump into the deep end, or dip a toe in at the shallow end. It all depends on your state in life, your needs, and even, what is drawing you to keep reading this!

By partnering with the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart, you have an opportunity to learn alongside women who have lived a vowed life of community, ministry and prayer. Behind them are three centuries of following a very ordinary woman who lived an extraordinary life and inspired others by her actions.

In a world where compassion has become a forgotten virtue, St. Marguerite’s words of faith and hope are a balm to the disconnection felt by many.

Today, our world is hurting in profound ways. Global warming, radical divisions among people, disregard for “the other,” unrelenting violence, isolation. These are but a few of the ills we are faced with on a daily basis.

In many corners of the world, religious men and women are joining with others to bring God’s peace. We invite you to join with us, and learn with us as we work to create a more compassionate world. We do this through prayer, advocacy and ministry, and we are learning each day. We hope you will bring us your cares and concerns, your knowledge and passion so that we can learn together.

If this sounds meaningful to you, take some time to think it over and listen to what is in your heart. We are just beginning this process of invitation, too, so we are all in a place of discerning and listening!

Here we offer some simple tips that we call Ways to improve your Heart-hearing:

1. Commit to a daily period of quiet prayer
2. Participate spiritually with others in your faith tradition
3. Review your day (Where did I find God’s goodness and peace? Where did I see my own sinfulness and weakness?)
4. Keep a Journal
5. Pay attention to your relationships and activities
6. Think about the ways you serve others in your daily life
7. Talk with a spiritual guide or mentor, perhaps a Spiritual Director.
